Volunteer Practitioners

We are always excited to build on our amazing team of volunteer counsellors and psychotherapists.

Duties

Accepted volunteers are required to be consistent with what they have chosen to contribute. Each volunteer needs to attend two groups as a Co-Leader before they can Lead a group. All groups require one registered practitioner and another (student volunteers accepted) to be present. We focus on providing references for volunteers moving forward, invest in promotion to increase the exposure of  Forge Clarity's services, and the dedicated individuals that contribute.

A Zoom plan that allows for 1 hour sessions is required (for Leaders) - the free plan cuts off at 40 minutes. If you are not sure, do a test run or check before applying. Must have own insurance, whether this is through ACA, PACFA and or a third party provider.

Must:

  • Complete below Volunteer Form (Google Form may require you login to your Gmail/allow cookies).
  • Upload signed Liability Waiver for Volunteers
  • Upload current National Police Check
  • Upload high quality portrait image for your bio on our website (Not mandatory but recommended)

Note: All volunteer students will have this noted in their featured bio until registration has been approved.

Leaders

  • Login to Zoom 20 minutes before the meeting starts.
  • Make Co-Leader a Co-Host on Zoom so that they can respond to any client questions or comments etc made in Zoom chat etc.
  • Take member attendance.
  • Do a quick introduction of yourself, and co-leader.
  • Then encourage group members to introduce themselves if they feel comfortable to. A general "Check-In" - a category within the Group Client Notes Template.
  • Introduce that weeks subject very briefly. Can be found here.
  • Check if anyone in the group has anything urgent they would like to share before going into more of the weeks topic.
  • If no one has anything urgent to share, begin the group. Try "Alright, well let's start. Has anyone got any thoughts about 'Acknowledging Our Loss' "
  • Ensure to keep group members respectful to all attendees/volunteers.
  • Maintain confidentiality - don't be scared to say "No, sorry we can't share that confidential information." This can occur in groups when for example a member may ask or begin to share "Last week Amber shared that -" it is in situations like this that Leaders and Co-Leaders need to cut them off and reinforce confidentiality. Try encouraging them to de-identify and focus on the purpose/root of the subject.
  • Ensure to give each member a chance to talk. If someone needs to share and take a little extra time that can be okay if needed and other members agree.
  • Refer to the content if the meeting is quite.
  • Wrap the group up on time.
  • Review the Co-Leaders notes before submitting to info@forgeclarity.com.au

Co-Leader

  • Login to Zoom 20 minutes before the meeting starts.
  • Remind Leader to make you a Zoom Co-Host
  • Take member attendance.
  • Take detailed notes throughout the group.
  • Back up and support the Leader as needed.
  • Accept members into the Zoom meeting, respond to any questions or messages members send during the session.
  • Guide clients through logging into Zoom as needed. This may require you turning off your camera, microphone and calling the member to guide them through the process.
  • Covert notes into Group Notes Template and share with group Leader. Ensure to check spelling.
